Nutella cake in a Mug

Hi all!

Well I am happy to say that this is my first food post. Right off the bat I want to give Holly from http://www.spendwithpennies.com/nutella-microwave-mug-cakes/ credit for this recipe. This recipe is great to do with the kids since it is a smaller cake that they wont have to share. I think it turned out wonderful following the recipe exactly but next time I make it (and there will be a next time because this was so easy to make) I would tweak a few things. The recipe that I am giving is the version of what I will make next time. Be sure to use a microwave safe mug. (by the way I would use a large mug because the mix does rise) So here it is.

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons of flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
3 tablespoons Nutella
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

1.  Mix the dry ingredients in your mug or a small bowl (if you are using a narrow mug I recommend mixing in a bowl then putting it in the mug because it becomes hard to mix in the small space)
2.  Add the egg and be sure to stir thoroughly. Now add the Nutella, vanilla, and milk.
3.  Microwave on high for 60 seconds then check on it, if the cake settles a lot then it still needs to be cooked so continue for 15 second increments but keep the middle a little gooey yet. (its yummier that way)

WARNING the cup will be VERY HOT so only touch the handle

Anyone Can Cook

Hi all!

This is going to be another post without a recipe but I have a message to tell. Okay so you know the movie Ratatouille? Well you know how Chef Gusto always says that anyone can cook? That is completely true and not just to some nonsensical cartoon terms.

The reason I am coming along and saying this is because I have been cooking since I was about 5 years old. Now most people would assume that means I am an amazing cook. I think that is far from the truth. First of all the amount of time that you have been cooking for does not have anything to do with how well you can cook. Yes that amount of practice that I have gotten over the years has definitely helped me in my cooking endeavors. Second of all it takes more than just practice to be able to cook. I do not mean that in any sort of intimidating way. You just have to be able to come out of your shell. Stray away from recipes. Someone once told me that all recipes are there to do is to guide us. You can change a recipe in any way to make more to your tastes.

I have just recently started to come out of my box as far as using recipes. I have noticed a huge improvement in how everything I make tastes because I am using my judgment rather than someone else's.

One last thing. When you try a new recipe and it does not turn out do not... I repeat DO NOT be discouraged. Sometimes things just don't work right. Try again but maybe tweak things.

That's about all I have to say for the day. Check out my page on Facebook. I just started it and am trying to post interesting recipes on there every day. https://www.facebook.com/chocolatetasteslikebiscuits

Hi all!

Hi all!

Since this is my first post I am going to keep it simple. Not a whole lot of content just me telling you about myself and why I am here. The name's Amber. I love cooking, baking, and basically anything that has to do with food which would be why I am here, to share my love with all of you.

You will see things change a lot due to the fact that I am new to all of this so I will be playing with things a lot. I have so much creativity to let out but no outlet so I have begun today.

I have also created a Facebook page that goes along with this blog. https://www.facebook.com/chocolatetasteslikebiscuits I will be posting a lot of recipes on that page that are not my own.

Well I guess that is about all I have to say for right now. Look forward to hearing from me soon.

Hugs XO
